The engagement is announced between Paymaster Lieutenant John Loftus Rigge, R. N. , son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Rigge, of South Cottage, Kemsing, and Miss Patricia Anne Burgess, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Burgess, White Lodge, Kemsing, Kent.

Platinum Anniversary

John and Pat Rigge were married at St. Mary's Church in the Kentish village of Kemsing on 7th September 1940, at the height of the Blitz. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2010 with receptions in Madrid and London. This web-site tells the story of the intervening years, from service in the Royal Navy to diplomatic and commercial life in Spain, via Bermuda, Portsmouth and Hong Kong.
